In this content we are going to present you with a clear example, the difference between verbatim and clean verbatim transcription.
Both, clean verbatim transcription and verbatim transcription are valid for any type of audio or video. With both types you will have the precise information that you want to transmit. However, it is important to understand what the transcription will be used for, if all the details of what it’s been said are required, including filler words, stuttering, false starts, sounds and noises, or if it is preferred an easier to read text.
The most used transcription is the clean verbatim transcription, some of the audios or videos that our clients usually request are clean verbatim such as: interviews, focus groups, meetings, conferences, assemblies, classes, among others.
However, when the transcription is required to place subtitles or captions for movies or YouTube, or it is an audio explaining disagreements between managers in a company, or other audios in the legal sector, the transcription to be used should be the verbatim one.
See an example between Clean verbatim transcription versus verbatim transcription:
Verbatim transcription:
Speaker: Good morning [applause]. We are going to continue today the conference that we started on-Tuesday – Wednesday, on digital marketing [interference]. We were talking then, about, uhm, the steps to establish the digital strategy, yes? We said we should start by … by… by… defining the target market, yes?
From that …, that is, from that definition, we would have to continue with the channels that … we are going to choose [sneezing].
Clean verbatim transcription:
Speaker: Good morning. We are going to continue today the conference that we started on Wednesday on digital marketing. We were talking then about the steps to establish the digital strategy. We said we should start by defining the target market.
From that definition, we would have to continue with the channels that we are going to choose.
